Kilmaley Camogie Club was reformed in 1983 and the club has played a very important part in our local community over its 30 years. It is weaved into generations of familes with much pride and passion. Currenty the club is in a healthy state due to the tremendous work done by its officers and players over the past number of years. The community has supported the club and it continues to grow from strength to strength. Last year saw the largest registration at 184 members.
Kilmaley Camogie club has won titles at all grades and has been one of the leading camogie clubs in the county for the past 10 years. Its players have represented Clare Camogie at all levels from Primary, Under 14, U16, U18, and Senior. We have had Denise Lynch captain Clare Camogie in 2013 and Claire McMahon and Niamh O Dea nominated for All-Stars in 2013 and 2014.
The past year 2014, was a very successful year for the club as we regained the senior title, contested the league final and won the Div 1 Feile title for only the 2nd time in 30 years. Kilmaley represented Clare in the Munster Senior Camogie Championship and were beaten by the All-Ireland Champions Milford. The club currently fields teams in twelve different competitions from U6’s to Senior level.
In March 2014 the Camog Og nursery programme was commenced. This is the beginner camogie programme and it caters for girls ages 5-8 years old. It is structured around movement, agility, and team-based games. The basics of Camogie skills are introduced to our youngest girls and all coaching is done in a fun and safe environment.
All coaches and officers of the club are fully Garda Vetted and the coaches all have the foundation course in Camogie completed.
