Connolly entered the Tidy Towns competition in 2004 and this year marks the 10th anniversary of our campaign to make Connolly a beautiful village to live in. For the first five years our progress was slow, but since 2009 our marks have been improving steadily and last year we won the national award for the ‘most improved village’, with an award of €500 and a certificate of achievement.
We are a voluntary committee of 10 members, with the door wide open for anybody else who would like to get involved. People who live in the surrounding area of Connolly are very welcome to join the committee as all ideas and skills can help with the on- going development of the village. This year we have improved our marks from 232 to 240. We know that we still have a long way to reach full marks of 400, but we are on ‘a mission’.
